Julie Bamberger**

Originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Ms. Bamberger received her Bachelors Degree, summa cum laude, from the University of Minnesota and her Masters from the HARTT School of Music, both in viola performance and Suzuki pedagogy. She has studied viola with Roland Vamos, Korey Konkol, Victoria Chiang, and Lawrence Dutton of the Emerson String Quartet. Ms. Bamberger has done teacher training for both violin and viola with Teri and David Einfeldt, Nancy Lokken, Mark Bjork, Carrie Reuning, and Susan Kempter. Previous orchestra positions include the New Haven, CT Symphony and the Rochester, MN Symphony. She is currently a member of the San Bernadino and Redlands Symphony orchestras as well as an active chamber and freelance musician. Ms. Bamberger is also a member of MTAC & the Suzuki Association of California, Los Angeles Branch and teaches at several summer Institutes including Los Angeles, Oregon and Anchorage, Alaska.







Karla Berglund-Hughes**

Karla Berglund Hughes’ musical training began at 6 years of age. A former student of Elizabeth Mills, the founder of PSMP program, Ms. Hughes continues to add to her Suzuki experience by participating in leadership seminars, courses, and conferences sponsored by the Suzuki Association of the Americas. She is also in the process of exploring the therapeutic healing benefits of music by continuing her education in music therapy from Chapman University. Ms. Hughes earned her Bachelors of Music Degree in Violin Performance from California State University at Northridge. Ms. Hughes has an extensive background in musical performance with appearances on live radio broadcasts and professional music venues. She has served among the professional ranks of symphony orchestras such as Santa Barbara, San Bernadino , Long Beach, Pasadena Pops, along with various opera, ballet and musical show companies.

Ms. Berglund Hughes holds memberships in the Professional Musicians Association- Local 47, the Suzuki Association of the Americas, the Suzuki Association of California-Los Angeles Branch, the American Music Therapy Association and the American Nyckelharpa Association. Ms. Hughes is an avid fan of folk music and plays a traditional Swedish instrument called the Nyckelharpa. She also performs chamber music with her husband, Larry, a professional clarinetist.




June Manners*



June Manners is both a Suzuki teacher and a former Suzuki mom. Mrs. Manners received her Bachelor of Arts in Suzuki Pedagogy from Immaculate Heart College in Los Angeles. She studied violin with Elizabeth Mills (the founder of the PSMP program), Margery Marth and Jane Levy. She accompanied the Mills on a trip to Japan in 1972 where she attended teacher sessions with Dr. Suzuki. Mrs. Manners has attended several Suzuki institutes, as well as being active as the assistant director (1987-1991) and director (1992-1996) of the Southern California Institute. In addition to teaching violin in the PSMP program, Mrs. Manners is also active as a Suzuki piano teacher.







Jennifer Visick**

Jennifer Visick holds a Bachelor of Music degree in viola performance from the University of California, Irvine, and has taken Suzuki teacher training from Lorraine Fink, Susan Kempter, and Elizabeth Stuen-Walker. She recently joined with the Pasadena Suzuki Music Program in the Fall of 2004. Ms. Visick regularly plays for worship services at her church, and has also performed at different venues in Southern California and in the Czech Republic as the violist of the Elegie Quartet. Her interest in learning to teach people to play from the start without tension/pain has led her to work with clinician Karen Tuttle (Coordination Workshop) and Susan Kempter, author of "Teaching the Violin with the Body in Mind."

Ms. Visick began to study the violin at age 3, and began as a student in the Pasadena Suzuki Music Program. She chose to focus on the viola as she began high school. Her primary viola instructors include John Scanlon, Jerzy Kosmala, Yvonne Creanga, Laura Kuennen-Poper, and Margaret Shimizu. She is a member of the following professional organizations: CPAF, SAA, SMAC/LA, I/A/SCVS, and ASTA.





NEW TEACHER: Carrie Kennedy*

Carrie Kennedy holds a Masters degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, where she studied with Pamela Frank, and a BM from the University of Southern California with Robert Lipsett. She has been the featured soloist with orchestras throughout the US and has given recitals in 12 states. She has won numerous awards including 1st place in the National Federation of Music Clubs Young Artists Competition with two years of concert engagements and 1st place in the American String Teachers Association Competition.

Carrie resides in Pasadena with her husband, violinist Joel Pargman, where she is currently a member of the Avanti Quartet, Musica Angelica Baroque Orchestra, Pasadena Symphony, and New West Symphony. She also frequently performs with the Riverside Symphony and Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra. She has appeared with popular artists such as Andrea Bocelli, Stevie Wonder, John Legend, and Earth Wind and Fire.









NEW PIANO TEACHER: Carol Kauper



Carol Lee Kauper is a master piano teacher who has been inspiring children of all ages to become the best musicians they can be. Ms. Kauper began her own musical studies on piano at age three, eventually going to pursue a music degree in viola from the University of Southern California.

Ms. Kauper began her teaching career by tutoring students who were failing music theory at USC, moving on to assisting music education piano students, all while as a music student herself. She then went on to teach public school music in the Covina Valley & Beverly Hills. She has been running her own private piano studio for the past 25 years.







NEW GUITAR TEACHER: David Pritchard**

David Pritchard is a Suzuki teacher and former Suzuki parent. He studied music at UCSB before freelancing as a professional jazz and classical guitarist with such artists as Gary Burton, Don Ellis, and Don Preston. He has recorded several albums of his own compositions. As a composer he is the author of “Clockworks for Solo Guitar” published by Columbia Music Co; one of his recent compositions “Stairs” is featured on the latest Los Angeles Guitar Quartet CD “Spin.” His Suzuki training was with Frank Longay and he has taught at the Pasadena Conservatory of Music as well as his own private studio. He is a 1994 Arts Fellowship recipient from the city of Pasadena and a 1995 recipient of a Special Award from the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers.
